Live poultry, that is to say, fowls of the species Gallus domesticus , ducks, geese, turkeys and guinea fowls This heading covers only live domestic birds of the kinds specified in the heading (fowls of the species Gallus domesticus include chickens and capons), whether bred for laying, for their meat, for their feathers or for any other purpose (for example, for the stocking of aviaries, parks or lakes). Wild birds (for example, wild turkeys — Meleagris gallopavo), even though they may be bred and slaughtered in a similar manner to the domestic birds specified in this heading, are classified in subheading 0106 39 80 . Pigeons of the domestic species are classified in subheading 0106 39 10 .
1. This chapter covers all live animals except: (a) fish and crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates, of heading 0301, 0306, 0307 or 0308; (b) cultures of micro-organisms and other products of heading 3002; (c) animals of heading 9508. 2. Heading 0106 covers, inter alia, the following domestic or wild animals: (a) mammals: primates, whales, dolphins and porpoises (mammals of the order Cetacea); manatees and dugongs (mammals of the order Sirenia); seals, sea lions and walruses (mammals of the suborder Pinnipedia); (b) reptiles (including snakes and turtles); (c) birds: parrots (including parakeets, macaws and cockatoos), ostriches and emus; (d) insects: bees; (e) other: frogs.

The origin of the goods of this heading of a weight of 185g or more shall be the country where the bird was fattened for at least 2 months to come from a weight of less than 185g to a weight of 185g or more; the country of origin of other poultry of this heading shall be the country where the bird was hatched.
