TARIC (Integrated Tariff of the European Communities)
Database integrating all EU tariff, commercial, and regulatory measures applicable to goods.
TARIC (Integrated Tariff of the European Communities) is the European Union's central database integrating all measures applicable to imported or exported goods: customs duties, anti-dumping duties, tariff quotas, suspensions, tariff preferences, sanitary and phytosanitary measures, licences, restrictions, embargoes, etc.
TARIC extends the 8-digit Combined Nomenclature by adding 2 further digits (9th and 10th) and additional codes of 4 characters. These extensions enable precise identification of each applicable measure: for example, the same product under a given CN code may be subject to different duties depending on its origin, the tariff quota used, or the exporting company.
The TARIC database is managed by DG TAXUD (Directorate-General for Taxation and Customs Union) of the European Commission and updated daily. It is transmitted to national customs systems that use it for automatic duty calculation and declaration compliance verification.
Online access to TARIC (via the Commission portal) is free and open to all. It is the indispensable tool for any international trade operator, providing instant knowledge of all measures applicable to a given product, based on its classification, origin, and destination.
