Iceberg lettuce from Egypt to Italy full process and all exporters

Question

I am making a presentation about the top 10 exporters from Egypt to Italy who export the product: iceberg lettuce, country origin: Egypt

The Trade Hub · Answer

Operational recommendation Assuming your presentation is about fresh/chilled iceberg lettuce for human consumption, originating in Egypt and imported into Italy, the most practical and defensible way to present the topic is this: 1. Use “iceberg lettuce from Egypt to Italy” as an EU import process case, not only a supplier list. 2. Separate “shipment-verified exporters” from “publicly marketed exporters”. 3. State clearly that a complete “all exporters” list is not publicly visible for free; public shipment intelligence shows 16 Egyptian fresh iceberg lettuce suppliers in the tracked dataset, but only part of the names are visible without subscription access. volza.comhttps://www.volza.com/p/fresh-iceberg-lettuce/suppliers-directory/suppliers-in-egypt/ --- Direct answer Best presentation line Egyptian iceberg lettuce exports to Italy should be presented as an EU third-country fresh produce import flow requiring: phytosanitary certification, TRACES/CHED-PP border formalities, EU customs clearance, and—where origin conditions are met—preferential access under the EU–Egypt trade framework. eur-lex.europa.euhttps://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/PDF/?uri=CELEX%3A22024D2653&utmsource=openai --- Top 10 exporters to cite in your presentation A. Shipment-verified Egyptian exporters visible in public trade data These are the strongest names to put first because they are backed by shipment-data visibility rather than only website claims. 1. Gouda for Agricultural Products — visible in public trade data as the largest named Egyptian fresh iceberg lettuce exporter in the sample, with 248 shipments. The company also presents itself as a vertically integrated Egyptian grower/packer/exporter serving more than 20 countries. volza.comhttps://www.volza.com/p/fresh-iceberg-lettuce/suppliers-directory/suppliers-in-egypt/ 2. Royal Fruits — visible in public trade data with 55 shipments of Egyptian fresh iceberg lettuce in the sample; the company states it has two packhouses and annual operating capacity of about 60,000 tons. volza.comhttps://www.volza.com/p/fresh-iceberg-lettuce/suppliers-directory/suppliers-in-egypt/ 3. Future Agrico for Investment – Green 12 FAI — visible in public trade data with 5 shipments in the sample; the company states it operates packhouses, pre-cooling and cold storage for fresh fruit and vegetables. volza.comhttps://www.volza.com/p/fresh-iceberg-lettuce/suppliers-directory/suppliers-in-egypt/ 4. Green Harvest Egypt for Import & Export — visible in public trade data with 4 shipments in the sample and historical public references to Egyptian fresh lettuce export. volza.comhttps://www.volza.com/p/fresh-iceberg-lettuce/suppliers-directory/suppliers-in-egypt/ 5. El Saada Import & Export — this is the only exporter in the visible public sample explicitly tied to Italy, with 4 fresh iceberg lettuce shipments shown to Italy. volza.comhttps://www.volza.com/p/fresh-iceberg-lettuce/suppliers-directory/suppliers-in-egypt/ 6. Be Fresh — separate shipment-level public data shows multiple Egyptian iceberg lettuce export movements under HS 0705, including several 2024 iceberg lettuce consignments. volza.comhttps://www.volza.com/p/be-fresh/hsn-code-0705/export-data/exports-from-egypt/?utmsource=openai B. Additional Egyptian exporters/suppliers publicly offering export-grade iceberg lettuce These are credible names for a top-10 commercial shortlist, even if the free public sources do not show Italy-specific shipment counts. 7. Belco — public exhibitor/company material lists iceberg lettuce among the company’s export product range and describes Belco as an established Egyptian grower/exporter supplying major retailers. belco.comhttps://www.belco.com/home?utmsource=openai 8. Ventura Agricultural — states that it specializes in exporting fresh produce including iceberg lettuce, backed by packhouse capability and cold-chain positioning. venturaagricultural.nethttps://venturaagricultural.net/about-us/?utmsource=openai 9. Loka International for Import & Export — explicitly offers Egyptian iceberg lettuce, with packing options and seasonal windows for export supply. lokainternational.comhttps://lokainternational.com/en/products/iceberg-lettuce/?utmsource=openai 10. Agro Fresh Food Industries — explicitly markets Egyptian fresh iceberg lettuce for export, with export packing and FOB/CFR/CIF commercial terms. agrofresh.com.eghttps://agrofresh.com.eg/en/products/egyptian-fresh-iceberg-lettuce/?utmsource=openai --- Important presentation note on “top 10” What you should say on the slide Publicly accessible sources do not provide a complete free list of all Egypt-to-Italy iceberg lettuce exporters. The best defensible method is to present: - 1 Italy-linked shipment-verified exporter: El Saada Import & Export; - 5 shipment-verified Egyptian iceberg lettuce exporters overall: Gouda, Royal Fruits, Future Agrico, Green Harvest Egypt, Be Fresh; - 4 additional export-ready Egyptian suppliers publicly offering iceberg lettuce: Belco, Ventura Agricultural, Loka International, Agro Fresh. volza.comhttps://www.volza.com/p/fresh-iceberg-lettuce/suppliers-directory/suppliers-in-egypt/ That is the most professional way to avoid overstating Italy-specific ranking where the free data does not fully expose all names. volza.comhttps://www.volza.com/p/fresh-iceberg-lettuce/suppliers-directory/suppliers-in-egypt/ --- Full Egypt-to-Italy process for iceberg lettuce Process flow 1. Product preparation in Egypt The exporter harvests, trims, grades, pre-cools, packs and palletizes the lettuce for export. This is standard for iceberg because shelf life depends heavily on rapid field heat removal and cold-chain integrity; several Egyptian exporters explicitly reference packhouse, pre-cooling and export packing capability. fai-eg.comhttps://fai-eg.com/n-farm/?utmsource=openai 2. Commercial documents The usual commercial file is: - commercial invoice, - packing list, - transport document, - certificate/proof of origin if preferential treatment is claimed, - phytosanitary certificate, - any buyer-specific quality/compliance documents. eur-lex.europa.euhttps://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/PDF/?uri=CELEX%3A22024D2653&utmsource=openai 3. Origin / preference under EU–Egypt framework The EU–Egypt Association framework provides preferential treatment for qualifying goods, and proof of origin can be based on EUR.1 or other origin proofs foreseen under the rules. Your collected EUR-Lex source specifically shows a tariff line for iceberg lettuce without outer leaf as free from 1 January to end-February under the relevant schedule. eur-lex.europa.euhttps://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/PDF/?uri=CELEX%3A22024D2653&utmsource=openai 4. Phytosanitary compliance before export Fresh vegetables entering the EU from a non-EU country must generally be accompanied by a phytosanitary certificate. The European Commission’s plant-health guidance states that vegetables are within the phytosanitary control system, with only a very limited list of fruit exemptions; iceberg lettuce is not one of those exemptions. food.ec.europa.euhttps://food.ec.europa.eu/plants/plant-health-and-biosecurity/plant-health-rulesen?utmsource=openai 5. Pre-notification in TRACES For plants and plant products, the EU uses TRACES, and the relevant document at entry is the CHED-PP. The consignment is pre-notified in TRACES before arrival at the EU border control point. food.ec.europa.euhttps://food.ec.europa.eu/horizontal-topics/traces/modulesen?utmsource=openai 6. Transport from Egypt to Italy For lettuce, the normal mode is reefer sea freight from Egypt to an Italian port, with airfreight used only for urgent or high-value programs. Exporters’ own commercial pages refer to FOB/CFR/CIF terms and sea/air shipment capability. agrofresh.com.eghttps://agrofresh.com.eg/en/products/egyptian-fresh-iceberg-lettuce/?utmsource=openai 7. Arrival in Italy: border controls On entry into the EU, the goods are subject to: - customs supervision, - presentation to customs, - official plant-health controls at the designated border point where required. eur-lex.europa.euhttps://eur-lex.europa.eu/eli/reg/2013/952/2022-12-12?utmsource=openai 8. Customs declaration for release for free circulation After successful border formalities, the importer or customs representative lodges the customs declaration for release into free circulation in Italy. Under the Union Customs Code, non-Union goods are under customs supervision from entry and must be presented to customs immediately upon arrival. eur-lex.europa.euhttps://eur-lex.europa.eu/eli/reg/2013/952/2022-12-12?utmsource=openai 9. EU marketing / conformity compliance Fresh fruit and vegetables marketed in the EU must comply with EU marketing standards and country-of-origin indication requirements. The Commission states that fresh fruit and vegetables sold fresh to consumers must be sound, fair and of marketable quality, and origin must be indicated. trade.ec.europa.euhttps://trade.ec.europa.eu/access-to-markets/en/content/health-and-consumer-protection-animal-and-plant-product?utmsource=openai 10. Inland delivery in Italy Once released, the lettuce moves under refrigerated distribution to wholesalers, fresh-cut processors, supermarket DCs or horeca distributors in Italy. At this point, the operational focus is temperature integrity, rapid delivery and traceability. egyptoverseas.comhttps://egyptoverseas.com/product/iceberg/?utmsource=openai --- Legal and regulatory basis EU plant health - Regulation EU 2016/2031 establishes the plant-health framework for introduction of plants and plant products into the Union, including phytosanitary certificates. eur-lex.europa.euhttps://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/ALL/?uri=CELEX%3A32016R2031&utmsource=openai - Implementing Regulation EU 2019/2072 sets the detailed import lists and certificate requirements. eur-lex.europa.euhttps://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/?qid=1600696400353&uri=CELEX%3A32019R2072&utmsource=openai Official controls / TRACES - Regulation EU 2017/625 governs official controls and the CHED system for consignments requiring border checks. eur-lex.europa.euhttps://eur-lex.europa.eu/eli/reg/2017/625/oj?utmsource=openai Customs - Union Customs Code – Regulation EU No 952/2013 - Article 134: goods entering the EU are under customs supervision. eur-lex.europa.euhttps://eur-lex.europa.eu/eli/reg/2013/952/2022-12-12?utmsource=openai - Article 139: goods must be presented to customs immediately upon arrival. eur-lex.europa.euhttps://eur-lex.europa.eu/eli/reg/2013/952/2022-12-12?utmsource=openai Origin / preference - EU–Egypt Euro-Mediterranean Agreement / Protocol on origin provides the preferential origin framework and proof mechanisms such as EUR.1. eur-lex.europa.euhttps://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/PDF/?uri=CELEX%3A22024D2653&utmsource=openai --- Slide-ready summary for your presentation Suggested one-slide text Market message Egypt is a winter-window supplier of iceberg lettuce to the EU/Italy, competing on seasonal availability, short transit, and preferential trade access when origin conditions are met. food.ec.europa.euhttps://food.ec.europa.eu/food-safety/animal-products/imports-entry-union-including-transitsen?utmsource=openai Top exporters to mention - Gouda for Agricultural Products - Royal Fruits - Future Agrico Green 12 - Green Harvest Egypt - El Saada Import & Export - Be Fresh - Belco - Ventura Agricultural - Loka International - Agro Fresh Food Industries volza.comhttps://www.volza.com/p/fresh-iceberg-lettuce/suppliers-directory/suppliers-in-egypt/ Import process Farm/packhouse in Egypt → phytosanitary certificate → reefer shipment → TRACES/CHED-PP → Italian/EU border controls → customs clearance → refrigerated distribution in Italy. food.ec.europa.euhttps://food.ec.europa.eu/plants/plant-health-and-biosecurity/plant-health-rulesen?utmsource=openai --- Final professional conclusion For a credible presentation, do not claim that you have an exhaustive public list of all Egypt-to-Italy exporters. The defensible position is: - El Saada Import & Export is the clearest Italy-linked exporter visible in the public shipment sample. volza.comhttps://www.volza.com/p/fresh-iceberg-lettuce/suppliers-directory/suppliers-in-egypt/ - The strongest shipment-verified Egyptian iceberg lettuce exporters overall are Gouda, Royal Fruits, Future Agrico, Green Harvest Egypt, and Be Fresh. volza.comhttps://www.volza.com/p/fresh-iceberg-lettuce/suppliers-directory/suppliers-in-egypt/ - The best commercial top-10 shortlist for your presentation is completed by Belco, Ventura Agricultural, Loka International, and Agro Fresh. ammanchamber.org.johttps://ammanchamber.org.jo/wsimages/3667.pdf?utmsource=openai If you present it this way, your slide will be commercially realistic, regulatorily correct, and professionally defensible. volza.comhttps://www.volza.com/p/fresh-iceberg-lettuce/suppliers-directory/suppliers-in-egypt/
