TARIC code — Integrated Tariff of the European Communities
TARIC is the customs tariff of the European Union. It extends the HS code from 6 to 10 digits to integrate all European trade and tariff measures.
Structure of the TARIC code
- Digits 1 to 6: international HS code
- Figures 7 and 8: Combined Nomenclature (CN) specific to the EU
- Digits 9 and 10: TARIC subheadings for specific measures
TARIC content
TARIC integrates conventional customs duties, anti-dumping duties, tariff quotas, tariff preferences, duty suspensions, commercial policy measures and import or export restrictions.

The TARIC database can be consulted free of charge online on the European Commission website (TARIC consultation). It is updated daily.
Importance for declarations
The 10-digit TARIC code is mandatory in EU import declarations. A coding error can result in an incorrect duty rate or non-compliance with regulatory measures.
