Euler Hermes (rebranded Allianz Trade in 2022) is the world's largest credit insurer, a subsidiary of Allianz Group. Present in over 50 countries, it protects more than 83,000 companies against non-payment risk.
Services offered include:
- Credit insurance: comprehensive receivables coverage (domestic and export) against insolvency and protracted default risk
- Surety and guarantees: market bonds, financial guarantees, bonds
- Debt collection: global collection network with a success rate exceeding 80 %
- Business information: database of over 80 million companies, scoring and continuous monitoring
- Macroeconomic analysis: sector studies, insolvency forecasts, country risk analysis
Euler Hermes/Allianz Trade coverage works through the allocation of credit limits (approvals) per buyer. The insured declares their turnover and unpaid invoices; the insurer indemnifies (typically 90 % of the loss) after the constitutive period.
Euler Hermes also serves as Germany's Export Credit Agency (ECA), managing public guarantees (Hermesburgschaften) on behalf of the federal government.
