Les références, dans les n°s 9401 à 9406, à des articles ou parties en une matière déterminée, couvrent également les articles ou parties constitués d'une combinaison de matières (par exemple, les meubles en bois et en métal). Toutefois, ces positions ne couvrent pas les marchandises relevant de positions plus spécifiques.
