REX System (Registered Exporter)
Self-certification system of origin by exporters registered with customs authorities.
REX System — Registered Exporter
The REX system is a preferential origin self-certification system. Registered exporters establish the origin certificates themselves on their commercial documents.
Operation
The exporter requests registration with the customs authorities. Once registered, it receives a REX number and can issue certificates of origin on its invoices or any commercial document.
Scope
The REX system is used within the framework of the GSP (Generalized System of Preferences), several recent free trade agreements of the EU (Canada, Japan, United Kingdom, etc.) and the OCTs.
Advantages
REX simplifies formalities by removing the need to request a EUR.1 certificate for each shipment. The exporter gains autonomy and speed.
Bonds
The registered exporter must keep stock records demonstrating compliance with the rules of origin and keep the supporting documents for at least 3 years.
