DELTA (French automated customs clearance system)
French customs IT system enabling electronic filing and processing of customs declarations.
DELTA (Dédouanement En Ligne par Traitement Automatisé) is the central IT system of French Customs for processing customs declarations. It is the main interface between economic operators and customs for all operations transiting through France.
The system comprises several modules: DELTA-G for standard declarations, DELTA-C for freight management, DELTA-T for transit operations (connected to NCTS), and DELTA-D for dematerialised document management.
Declarations are transmitted via EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) format according to technical standards defined by French Customs. The system automatically performs consistency checks and routes declarations to the appropriate clearance channel (green, orange, or red).
DELTA is being progressively modernised as part of the European customs systems convergence programme, with the AES (Automated Export System) and AIS (Automated Import System) projects that will eventually replace national systems.
