Entry summary declaration (ENS)
The ENS is an electronic safety and security declaration that must be submitted before the goods arrive in the customs territory of the European Union.
Objective
Enable customs authorities to carry out a safety and security risk analysis before the physical arrival of the goods.
Filing deadlines
Deadlines vary depending on the mode of transport: containerized sea freight (24 hours before loading at the port of departure), air freight (before takeoff or 4 hours before arrival), road transport (1 hour before arrival at the point of entry).
ICS2 system
The ENS is managed by the ICS2 (Import Control System 2) system, gradually deployed in the EU.
Data required
The ENS includes information on the shipper, recipient, description of goods, route and 6-digit HS codes.
