Pure-bred breeding horses - Geldings Imported for sale at auction A gelding is a pure-bred male horse which has been gelded (castrated) and no longer possesses its reproductive function but meets the definition of a ‘pure-bred breeding animal’ as per the applicable definitions in EU Regulation 2016/1012.
